Tips for Using DTF Ink

When using Direct-to-Film ink for the first time, everyone will experiment with accidents to some degree. We'd like to pass on some advice about this. 

• Store your ink correctly: Ink should be stored in a cool dry place, away from bright sunlight. This will help keep the ink's consistency from fading in the sun.
• Dress for success: You should wear black clothing (or dark colors) when you're printing—chances are you will get Direct-to-Film ink on you, and DTF stains are permanent, so why not?

How to Use DTF Ink 

Getting the best print results starts with using your DTF ink the right way. Follow these simple steps to ensure consistent color, strong adhesion, and smooth printing performance:

1. Before using, shake well.
   Gently shake each bottle of DTF ink will help remix the pigments evenly within their containers to ensure you have a consistent color density and there is nothing in the sediment that will affect your prints.
   

2. Check printhead alignment.
   Before every print session, run a quick nozzle check. This helps detect any clogs early and ensures that all color channels (CMYK and White) are firing correctly.

3. Use with DTF film and adhesive powder.
   Print your design directly onto DTF film using InkSonic ink, apply hot melt adhesive powder evenly, then cure the film using a heat press or curing oven until the powder melts completely.

4. Press at the right temperature and pressure.
   Once cured, transfer your design onto the fabric using a heat press. Set the temperature between 160°C–170°C (320°F–338°F) and press for 15–20 seconds for the best adhesion and durability.

Always perform a small test print before large production runs to confirm color calibration and ink flow. This ensures your final designs come out exactly as expected—bright, detailed, and long-lasting.
